This guide will allow you to perform the
basic functions of viewing and editing the files associated
with the AgNav system. Be sure to refer to the AgNav GPS
Guidance System Quick Start Manual for additional information.
For references to longitude/latitude formats, see Guide
for Converting Lat/Long Coordinates.
Viewing Block & Flight Files:
- Start NAVVIEW software:
Change to the directory where flight data files are located
(Example: CD \FLIGHTS). Start the Navview program by giving
the full path to the program: \AGNAV\NAVVIEW .
- Select an area file:
Navigate through the listing with <F1> (down) and
<F2> (up). Select area to display by pressing <Enter>.
- Select flights to replay:
The next screen prompts you for "QUICK PARAMETER SETUP?
Y/N" Press <Enter> for "Yes". After viewing the parameter
setting, press <Enter>. Press <Enter> to select
"SPRAY DATA FILE" as the source. Either press <Enter>
to select "DISPLAY ALL" or press <F6> to deselect
"DISPLAY ALL". Move through the list with <F1> or
<F2> and tag (select) with <F6>the flight file(s)
of interest. When your selection is complete, press <Enter>.
If the files selected form a continuous flight path press
<F1> to select "Yes". Press <Enter>.
- Printing the flight:
Next, you will be asked to choose your printing options.
Choose "NO PRINT" to skip the printing process or select
one of the print options for output. If you choose a printer,
you will need to select "Portrait" or "Landscape" page orientation.
Press <Enter> to accept orientation. Selecting "TO
FILE" will create a file "AGNAV.PRN," which can be printed
later. Select "TO PRINTER" to setup NAVVIEW to print when
<ALT-P> is pressed.
- Drawing the treatment area:
After selecting your print options, the screen will show
a graphic of the treatment block and flight statistics.
Switch between "NORMAL REPLAY" and "QUICK REPLAY" by
toggling <Alt-F8>. (NORMAL REPLAY displays flight
progress and can be paused to examine the flight in progress;
QUICK REPLAY draws the treatment block and flightline quickly
with little opportunity to get any flight information.)

Editing Block Coordinates:
Although you can use the NAVVIEW to edit the block coordinates,
it is easier and faster to edit the file manually with a texteditor.
See "Editing .NO1 files manually" below.
-
Start
NAVVIEW software:
Change to the directory where flight data files are
located (Example: CD \FLIGHTS). Start the Navview program
by giving the full path to the program: \AGNAV\NAVVIEW
.
-
Select
an area file:
Navigate through the listing with <F1> (down)
and <F2> (up). Select area to display by pressing
<Enter>.
-
Select
block to edit:
The next screen prompts you for "QUICK PARAMETER SETUP?
Y/N" Press <Enter> for "Yes". Press <F5>
to create a new block. Press <Enter> to the question
"Do you have a keyboard?". Edit the suggested filename;
maximum characters is 8. To be consistant with the other
files, make the extension ".NO1". The program will look
for the file and ask if you want to create a new file
if it cannot find it. Press <Enter>. Edit the
parameters, if needed. Press <F4> to goto the
next screen. Enter the coordinates for the first corner
of the treatment block. The format must be degrees,
minutes, decimal minutes (DM.s). Type the latitude degrees,
followed by a space, then the minutes. Seconds must
be converted to decimal minutes. (See Guide for Converting
Lat/Long Coordinates for help in converting to DM.m.)
Press <Enter> and then type the longitude degrees,
followed by a space, then the minutes. Press <F1>
when finished entering treatment block corners. Use
<F1> to select "Yes" to the prompt "Exit editor?".
Press <Enter>. Press <Enter> again to accept
"Yes" to "Save file?". You will be returned to the Main
Menu.
-
Displaying
changes:
To display the treatment block, use <F1> to move
the just-created or modified block. Press <Enter>
to accept. The next screen prompts you for "QUICK PARAMETER
SETUP? Y/N" Press <Enter> for "Yes". After viewing
the parameter setting, press <Enter>. Press <F1>
to select "REMOTE", Press <Enter> to display the
block.
Editing .NO1 Files Manually:
-
Use
a text editor to edit the .NO1 file contents:
Use MS-DOS EDIT, EDLIN or MS-Windows NOTEPAD to edit
a .NO1 file. Using a word processor (e.g. MS-Word or
WordPerfect) can add formatting information that renders
the file unusable.
-
File
contents:
Each line in the .NO1 file has a record type indicated
by the first field. The record type for the block corner
is "2". The fields for type 2 are: type, latitude, longitude,
label ("AREA CORNER"), corner number.
-
Changing
the corner coordinates:
The format for the latitude and longitude coordinate is
degrees, decimal- degrees (D.d). The longitude value needs
to be preceded by a "-" (minus sign). See Guide
for Converting Lat/Long Coordinates for help in
converting from degrees, minutes, seconds (DMS) to degrees,decimal-degrees.
